Experience

My involvement in the UHP Discover Project provided me with an extraordinary opportunity to engage in archaeological research on Roman cities, specifically Pompeii and Tharros. Under the guidance of esteemed faculty mentor Steven Ellis, I actively contributed to the excavation efforts from the Cincinnati campus. My responsibilities included working with live excavation data, processing 3D images through photogrammetry, organizing and editing photographs of finds and trenches, and managing the project's website and social media presence. This immersive experience allowed me to explore the behind-the-scenes aspects of an archaeological excavation and apply my skills in a practical setting.

Through my involvement in this project, I gained invaluable knowledge and skills. I developed a deeper understanding of archaeological research methods and techniques, honed my data analysis and management abilities, and improved my proficiency in using digital tools for documentation and presentation purposes. Collaborating with a diverse team of professionals and scholars expanded my perspective and taught me the importance of effective teamwork in research endeavors.

As I reflect on this experience, I am confident that it has positively impacted my academic journey. It has reinforced my passion for archaeology and sparked my interest in pursuing further studies in this field. The UHP Discover Project has also equipped me with practical skills, research acumen, and a global perspective necessary for my future endeavors, including graduate school and professional pursuits.
